The Challenge

Scaling a consultation-heavy business using disjointed tools is an administrative nightmare. Before the custom web app, managing availability and collecting consultation fees for D’fam Care required constant manual intervention. A fragmented digital presence forced highly stressed, sleep-deprived parents to work too hard just to get the help they needed. The core inefficiencies included:

  • Scheduling Friction: Relying on DMs, phone calls, and manual calendar checks to book sleep consultations or doula interviews led to delayed responses and frustrated clients.
  • Payment Chasing: Invoicing clients manually and tracking down payments for consultation packages disrupted the client-provider relationship.
  • User Experience Gaps: A lack of a unified, intuitive platform added unnecessary stress to an already overwhelmed target audience.

My Approach: The “Zero-Friction” Receptionist

I engineered a robust, automated booking ecosystem wrapped in a calming, premium user interface. The goal was to build a “zero-friction” web app that acts as a 24/7 digital receptionist for the business. The solution included:

  • Automated Scheduling Architecture: I developed a dynamic booking engine synced directly with D’fam Care’s master calendar, allowing clients to select available time slots with built-in buffer times and automated timezone conversions.
  • Integrated Payment Gateways: I deployed a highly secure, automated checkout flow supporting both local mobile money (Lipa na M-Pesa) and global card payments, requiring upfront payment to lock in consultation slots.
  • Calming, Trust-Building UI/UX: I designed a clean, empathetic visual identity and user interface that instantly reassures parents they are in professional, capable hands from the very first click.
